Gatlinburg Gateway Triathlon - This is the
third annual triathlon, which is headquartered at the
Gatlinburg Community Center and starts at 8:15 a.m. The
triathlon is open to anyone 15 years and older capable
of swimming one-half mile, biking twenty kilometers, and
running five kilometers consecutively. Awards will be
given in multiple age categories (men’s and women’s
division), plus a mixed team relay event.

HAM Radio Operators
International Tribute at Titanic Pigeon Forge -
On the 99th anniversary of Titanic’s maiden voyage,
amateur (HAM) radio operators will band together
worldwide for a very special broadcast originating from
Titanic Museum Attraction. The event will commemorate
the anniversary of the sinking and will honor the two
wireless operators, Jack Phillips and Harold Bride, who
sent distress signals into the early morning hours of
April 15, 1912. HAM operators from Pigeon Forge to
Belfast, Northern Ireland, will transmit news of the
anniversary using a special call sign and signals.
Visitors are invited to witness this live event, which
offers a firsthand look at the fragile and primitive
nature of communications at sea in 1912. For more

annual 26.2-mile march. It starts in downtown Gatlinburg
